Somebody Under the Bed
Bubba went to a psychiatrist. “I’ve got problems. Every time I go to bed, I think there’s somebody under it. I’m scared. I think I’m going crazy.”
“Just put yourself in my hands for one year,” said the shrink. “Come talk to me three times a week, and we should be able to get rid of those fears.”
“How much do you charge?” “Eighty dollars per visit,” replied the doctor. “I’ll sleep on it,” said Bubba. Six months later the doctor met Bubba on the street. “Why didn’t you ever come to see about those fears you were having?” asked the psychiatrist.
“Well, eighty bucks a visit three times a week for a year is an awful lot of money! A bartender cured me for $10. I was so happy to have saved all that money I went and bought me a new pickup with a big gun rack over the seat!”
“Is that so! And how, may I ask, did a bartender cure you?” “He told me to cut the legs off the bed! Ain’t nobody under there now!!!”

The Game of Life
I found this powerful image in a very old book. The idea is very cool. We, just like the young man, attempt to “play the game” using our own wisdom and our own methods, but the enemy is able to capture them. The game finally begins to change when the young man reaches for the cross.

I Am Habit
I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am completely at your command.
Half of the things you do you might as well turn over to me and I will do them – quickly and correctly.
I am easily managed, but you must be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done and after a few lessons, I will do it automatically.
I am the servant of great people, and alas, of all failures as well!
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine — though I work with the precision of a machine plus the intelligence of a person.
You may run me for profit or run me for ruin – it makes no difference to me.
Take me, train me, be firm with me, and I will place the world at your feet.
Be easy with me and I will destroy you.
Who am I?
I am Habit.
